PROSTHESIS.
The prosthesis is designed to replace missing teeth, therefore returns the functionality and aesthetics of the mouth. There are different types of prosthesis according to their anchorage in the mouth.
Fixed prosthesis
The fixed prosthesis is made by those called prosthetic capsules and bridges consisting of metal or zirconium substructure and a ceramic superstructure reproducing the tooth in all its peculiarities: color, shape, size and are really indistinguishable from natural teeth. The prosthesis is permanently cemented in the mouth over the teeth, which may be weakened or not depending on the circumstances, or may be cemented in bone implants previously placed. The patient is never without teeth because it’s made a temporary one replacing the missing teeth at the moment, until the last session in which the final bridge or capsule will be cemented ..
Removable prosthesis
The removable prosthesis is what usually is called "false teeth" by the patient. It’s made primarily of resin rose to reproduce the gums and white resin to reproduce the teeth. Total prosthesis can be higher or lower and its necessary to proceed each year to the so-called "relining", due to the change of bone that physiologically occurs in the toothless patient. For relining is meant to redo the lower complete dentures, namely those in contact with the gums and the bone of the patient when this is not 'consistent with the bottom of the prosthesis and it begins to make movements during chewing or talking..
Partial prosthesis
The partial prosthesis is made of one resin part and a metal part (usually nickel / titanium / palladium); the metal one has hooks that embrace healthy teeth remaining in the mouth and ensures the maintenance of the prosthesis. It 's a removable prosthesis, which must be removed for' oral hygiene and the hygiene of the prosthesis itself.
