The Pedodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with treating children aged 4-5 years to 13 - 14 years old, during which the permanent dentition is complete and terminates the exchange of milk teeth called in medical jargon "deciduous" .
Milk teeth have an important role for the subsequent development of permanent teeth which maintain the necessary space to grow in the right order and also permit the orderly development of the jaw, allow mastication, phonation that is the proper emission of words sound. To have healthy teeth as adults, we should learn from childhood to care for teeth, wash them properly and often and have them checked at least once a year to the dentist. The enemies of the teeth are still there and are dental plaque and caries. Usually you should take the children to the dentist for their first visit about 6 years old when the lower first molar, first permanent tooth that will remain standing 'for all their lives comes out.
The purpose of the first visit is to make known the dental clinic and its staff so that the child at the time of treatment, has no fear of a place or situation or by people who have never seen before.
That said let's go back to what happens after the teeth have been well washed: already after the first few hours after brushing, bacteria begin to lurk in all those microscopic irregularities in the enamel of teeth and here they reproduce themselves rapidly to form the so-called plaque which, if not removed frequently, form acids that give rise to caries and various diseases of the gums and periodontal ligament. So, as we have seen, the only remedy in order to have healthy teeth and beautiful as adults is just to have had constant care from infancy.
